About Us

About the Group:

Our group began in September 2008 with just a few ladies, most of which were beginners.  We now have 20 plus ladies that actively participate in the group and have created hundreds of hats, scarves, and many other items!  Our handmade items are passed out at the monthly Beacon of Hope Cancer Support Group meetings.  Because of the amazing productivity of our members, we have also started passing out items at 2 McKinney oncology offices.  We were also excited in June 2009 to send an entire garbage bag of hats off to South Africa with a missionary family!  We look forward to continuing sending our handiwork to those in need of comfort—both locally and abroad!

We meet two times weekly in McKinney, Texas.  Both meetings are held  at First Baptist Church McKinney.  Here is a link to a map so you can find us easily!  http://www.fbcmckinney.com/templates/System/details.asp?id=43279&PID=610716  First, we meet on Tuesday mornings from 10:00—12:00 in the Hospitality Room and then on Wednesdays evenings in the Fireside Room from 6:15 to 7:30.  These meetings are designed to share ideas, expertise, and patterns.  Also, those interested in learning to knit or crochet can learn the basics from one of our members.   Perhaps most importantly, completed items can be brought to these meetings.

Come join our group of busy ladies!!  We welcome all levels of expertise—beginner, experienced or merely interested!  Quite a few of our ladies joined the group not knowing how to hold a needle or hook and are now creating hats and scarves.  You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to learn!!
